These postures are different than other forms of yoga. They have an influence on the internal organ systems rather than the superficial muscles. Restor’ Yoga soothes the nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension which holds you back from healing.

Description:
Breathing is so central to life that it is no wonder humankind long ago noted its value not only to survival but to the functioning of the body and mind and began controlling it to improve well-being.
As early as the first millennium B.C., both the Tao religion of China and Hinduism placed importance on a “vital principle” that flows through the body, a kind of energy or internal breath, and viewed respiration as one of its manifestations. The Chinese call this energy qi, and Hindus call it prana (one of the key concepts of yoga).
In Latin languages, spiritus is at the root of both “spirit” and “respiration.”
In fact, every relaxation, calming or meditation technique relies on breathing, which may be the lowest common denominator in all the approaches to calming the body and mind. Research into basic physiology and into the effects of applying breath-control methods lends credence to the value of monitoring and regulating our inhalations and exhalations.

Description:
Mindfulness is a ‘fully-conscious’ state of living that enables us to relate to our experiences with higher accuracy and clarity. Much of Western society perceives mindfulness to be ‘emptying one’s head of thought’, whereas the exact opposite is true.
Mindfulness involves being acutely aware of our thoughts, emotions, and why we do what we do. It means being aware in the moment and paying close attention to what is happening in the ‘here and now’, instead of focusing on our past memories or future predictions.
Learn a dynamic way to settle the mind and create focus and clarity. through breath and visualization. while connecting to the source.

Description:
Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. While the practitioner rests comfortably in savasana (corpse pose), this systematic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness. No longer do you have to dread spending hours sitting on the floor waiting for liberation. For those who are curious - Here is a bit of reading which outlines the five benefits of developing a yoga nidra practice.

Description:
Reduce stress and create a deep sense of peace and well-being. Sound (vibration), has the power to shift and change energy in the physical body, vibration comes in lots of different forms, for example music is vibration, some music makes you feel good and we can explain this as resonance “it resonates with you”, and then there's music that doesn't match your own body vibration we call that dissonance.
With roots are deep into the fabric of healing and wellness. The sounds of gongs , Tibetan bowls, rattles, drums etc. return the human organism to greater harmony and balance. This healing modality supports a state where the physical, mental or subtle bodies can remain vibrant and regenerate after injury or illness. Sound and breath are one – itself a key to harmony and homeostasis.

“The sound touches our innermost soul and brings it into vibration. The sound breaks tension, mobilizes self healing forces, and sets free creative energies.”

A new class is being offered addressing the Challenges of Cancer and illness to Complement conventional therapies.
Date: TBA
Yoga - Begin your way back to health
Learn postures, breathing and mindfulness which reduces stress, hypertension, muscle tension and speeds healing and recovery.
Complementing conventional therapies and management during and after illness such as cancer, surgery or injury. Small classes ensure proper attention to alignment and method.
Is it possible that we need to take a fresh look at the facts? What do we mean when we say that the cancerous process affect us? Does it affect the body alone, or does it affect the mind? Conversely, do the causative factors spring from the physical dimension or from the mind or from both or beyond? The latest research points to the disease process being much beyond the body itself. There are indications that the causation process starts deep within us from the higher levels of existence of the human personality. If so, we must first explore and know what these higher dimensional are, how they function and how we can reach those realms and modify the activities going on there.

Yoga provides a way of approaching these queries. It regards the human personality as being much deeper than just the manifest physical body. Yoga gives us a broader vision of who we are and a framework for developing insight and understanding at deeper levels.
I look forward to offering a comprehensive course , which addresses the above topic, which is not limited to those are pre, post or palliative cancer patients, but also those whom are addressing illness and ailments ranging from (but not limited to), diabetes, hypertension, depression, mental fatigue, postpartum or injury including surgery.

These classes will be available in Harrison Hot Springs/Agassiz and Chilliwack.
